Meta confirmed to TechCrunch that Threads is testing a new feature allowing users to attach longer blocks of text to a single post. This eliminates the need to create multiple posts when sharing in-depth thoughts or ideas.
App researcher Radu Oncescu first spotted the “text attachment” feature on iOS and shared a screenshot of it. According to the app, the feature lets users “attach longer text and get creative with styling tools to share deeper thoughts, news snippets, book excerpts, and more.”
This capability could attract creators and writers who previously shared content on blogs or newsletter platforms like Substack. Users can now avoid workarounds such as posting screenshots of text from Notes apps. Robert P. Nicksondemonstrated the feature, showing a gray box snippet that readers can click on to scroll through the full text.
While Threads currently supports text-only posts, competitors like X allow images and videos in long-form content, though X’s feature is limited to Premium users. Meta says it plans to expand access to more users as testing continues.
Support for long-form posts adds to Threads’ recent features, including DMs, fediverse integrations, custom feeds, and AI enhancements, helping the platform grow to over 400 million monthly active users.
