Apple appeals EU’s €500M fine over App Store payment restraints

Apple is challenging a €500 million fine imposed by the European Union for its App Store payment policies. The EU’s April decision claimed the company failed to let developers guide users toward non-App Store payment options, as mandated by the Digital Markets Act.

In June, Apple modified its EU payment framework, adding several new fees intended to accommodate alternative processing. Regulators have said these changes do not alter the original breach.

Apple insists the fine is excessive and that the Commission is overstepping legal limits. The company plans to use the appeals process to defend its App Store model.
