Google’s AI Mode expands globally, adds new agentic features

Google announced Thursday that it is expanding AI Mode, the feature that lets users ask detailed questions and follow-ups directly in Search, to a global audience. The update also introduces new agentic and personalized functionalities.
AI Mode is now available in English in 180 additional countries, previously limited to the U.S., U.K., and India, with plans to expand to more languages and regions later.
Among the agentic features, users can now book restaurant reservations, and eventually local services and event tickets. AI Mode can handle multiple preferences such as party size, date, time, location, and cuisine, searching multiple platforms to deliver a curated list of real-time options.
This capability is initially available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. through the Labs experiment “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode.” Ultra is Google’s top-tier plan, priced at $249.99 per month.
The update also tailors search results to user preferences, starting with dining. For instance, AI Mode will consider previous searches and clicks in Search and Maps to suggest relevant options, like Italian restaurants with outdoor seating.
Users can manage these personalization settings in their Google Account. Additionally, AI Mode now includes a “Share” button, enabling collaboration by sending responses to others, useful for planning trips or events.
